Our Story

Red Apple Education and Skwirk were founded in October 2005 by company Chairman Rod Salmon.

The original concept was to create a safe online destination and learning environment for students to use as a resource tool for homework and assignments. However, after positive feedback from schools and teachers, Skwirk was taken into the classroom as a learning tool and we have continued to adapt and develop new ways of enhancing learning.

The Skwirk team, now led by GM Jordan Butler, bring together a diversity of experience in education, teaching and learning technologies to make Skwirk one of the leading education portals. We are constantly evolving the tools and content based on valuable feedback from our customers..

Skwirk now hosts over 18,000 resources, is used by over 21,000 teachers and 320,000 students, and is used in over 1400 schools! Skwirk's resources are also used all around the world, including Australia, New Zealand, Malaysia, Hong Kong, India, and the USA.

Skwirk in the Community

Here at Skwirk, we believe in a better way to do business through participation in the wider community. Being an education company, we believe that education is immeasurably important to the health, wellbeing and future outlook of a child and that a complete education should be a right to all children Australia and worldwide. Skwirk is always looking for ways in which we can contribute to this ideal.

We uphold three guiding principles:

  1. To do business responsibly
  2. To invest in the community and take leadership on social issues relevant to our business
  3. To maintain transparency and public reporting of our values and conduct
